Museum Evaluation

The Museum of Natural History is a very interesting landmark in New York City it has a wide array of activities for both adults and children. The museum is a very helpful media especially for student alike due to its detailed information on their exhibits on different cultures. For the English 101 class our topic is global warming and the film called An Inconvenient Truth an Al Gore film. We are to find evidence that supports An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore. We started our research in the Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth to look for clues on global warming then we went to the Spitzer Hall of Human Origins to look for our Ethos, Pathos and logos assignment. Dr. Smith our English professor then broke us into groups for us to work with.
At first we went to Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth, which is located on Rose Center for Earth and Space on the first floor. When I went in the room had some very interesting exhibits that concentrate on earth with detailed presentation and interactive medias such as interactive videos and charts. The first exhibit that interested me was the slide chart that tells you the co2, temperature, and the ice level on earth even way back from the medieval times and back till present. Then there is an interactive video about the polar ice caps and comparing the ice level from the 90’s to the present. I have learned that the more ice melts the higher the sea level which fits Al Gore’s film.
Our next location was the Spitzer Hall of Human Origins. This section of the museum concentrates on human evolution and portrays how locate the Spitzer Hall of Human Origins. The exhibit called DNA comparing chimps tells us that monkeys are the closest matches to the human DNA, which is the logos because it has mostly vital information rather than visual presentation. The other exhibit, which is the different type of monkeys and apes, is the ethos due to its helpful visuals that didn’t need much explanation and was very self explanatory. The Neanderthal models were very well done as well it explains how early humans lived in there time and is the pathos because it shows the savageness and the fact that they lived a very primitive lifestyle but none the less relates on how humans live now.
The Museum had a very rich set of exhibits and is very educational and I think more than half of the population here in New York City takes the educational aspect of the Museum of Natural History for granted. As for Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth is a very accurate depiction on global warming in my opinion do to the museums evidence and not to mention the weather we are experiencing today especially I noticed that the 8 years I have sent in New York each year the Winter season seems to get shorter and shorter. The trip to the museum was a very interesting activity for the class we got to spend time with our schoolmates out side of school.

the Orginis

Vinigar comes from fermented fruit juice a very sour version of wine an cider.

for the soy sauce we use the brand called Kikkoman which originated in japan and is use in the philippines all the time. soy sauce is a fermented sauce that comes from soy beans and is originated in Asia.

when i buy garlic i buy them individually so i dont really know where each garlic i buy originated but i think garlic is one of the universal ingredients that is used for a very long time.

chicken is a poultry meat and most chickens in america is raised in a family farm.

Chicken Adobo

CHICKEN ADOBO
Ingredients:

*1/2 cup cider vinegar
*1/4 cup soy sauce
*1 tablespoon minced garlic
*2 Turkish bay leaves or 1 California
*4 whole chicken legs (2 1/2 lb), cut into drumsticks and thighs

cider vinigar cost around 2-3 dollars
soy sauce only cost 2-3 dollars
minced garlic thats in a pack already is about 1-3 dollars
bay leaves coast around 3-4 dollars
4 chicken legs cost about 4-5 dollars depends on the quality.

so the maximum amount is about 18 dollars but it last for a long time since there is vinegar in the dish so it preserve the food.

The First

My name is Faro Benitez I have been living in New York City for over
Seven years. I grew up in a small village in southern part on the Philippines Called Davao City in Asia where everything is away from the city. For 14 years I was in the Philippines growing up as the only child with my grandparents and my cousins whom I consider them brothers and sisters, all 17 of them. In My first year of high school in the Philippines I suddenly found out my mom who I haven’t seen since I was born informed me that she will be taking me to New York in America. At that age I was old enough too decided for my self but lack in specific knowledge and it was the hardest decision I had to make, in the end it was for the best.
Growing up in the Philippines was very interesting experience and of course I would never wish for anything else. Comparing Davao and New York City is like comparing night and day, one the most obvious element is that New York City is a more diverse area, it has more people, skyscraping buildings that blew my mind the first time I came to New York. Davao City on the other hand is called a city but it’s not much of a city it is more of a raw version of any suburban area here in America where most roads are not concrete. Back in the Day if one of the street in our village has a concrete road we automatically felt awe in amazement because those kind of development a very rare thing that happens where I grew up with my cousins and grandparents. Davao City was a very slow area to grow up with but it was very simple and people who lived there wants nothing more than simple things like getting to work and enjoying what they have.
Going to school in the Philippines was a very interesting experience also; I get to experience high school in both Davao and New York City. The biggest difference in education between New York City and Davao, Philippines is the difficulty, not only it is academically tough but the environment surrounding my campus in Davao is very intense. Education in the Philippines is very hectic, students are required to have school uniforms everyday and that means everybody need to wear the same materials for their pants, shirts, socks and boys need to have the same hair cut which is a school approved clean cut and if u miss one of those requirements believe it or not you will be either be in parents conference or be expelled if u resist. Academically in the Philippines for me was very frustrating students cover New York high school level in elementary. All those elements really shaped me up when I was young and coming here in New York City really made me happy that for once in my life school was Fun.
